  • Magnetic balancers are more sensitive, but the big problem is out of balance axis with cones .If you can get perfectly balanced axis and cones, magnetic balancers are the way to go for precision balancing
    Du Bro is a good balancer , but not sensitive enough for 5″ props IMO.
    I will check how well balanced Du Bro axis and cones are and might use it on my DIY magnetic balancer



    Magnets and electro-magnets feature heavily in the technology that is used in Iron Man’s armour and weaponry. In the first of a series of physics experiments exploring the science and technology behind Iron Man, we examined how magnetic fields can be used to defy gravity and provide an almost inexhaustible source of power. The ring magnets on the pencil generate a magnetic field. However, this magnetic field is repelled by the magnetic field generated by the row of magnets on the box – a repelling force strong enough to overcome the force of gravity and preventing the pencil from falling. The repelling force of these two magnetic fields would normally propel the pencil forward but this is prevented by the ruler in front. Give the pencil a spin and you will see it rotating very quickly, while still suspended in mid-air. Theoretically, the pencil would continue spinning for as long the rings still have their magnetic power. The only forces that might eventually slow down this spinning are air friction and the friction of the pencil tip touching the ruler. That aside, we have the makings of an inexhaustible supply of kinetic energy!
